Intertidal Phase 1 habitat mapping to identify Sabellaria Honeycomb Reef.

MapAn intertidal survey was undertaken as a result of casual observations that the honeycomb, Sabellaria alveolata, reef on the South Llŷn Peninsula has changed over the past 10 years, since the last CCW survey of the area. Sabellaria alveolata reef is a UK Biodiversity Action Plan habitat, is nationally scarce and of conservation concern. The Countryside Council for Wales contracted Marine EcoSol to undertake the survey, GIS and reporting. Included extensive phase 1 habitat mapping and GIS utilising JNCC Marine Habitat Classification biotope codes of a stretch of South Llŷn Peninsula coast, North Wales.  Results are published in the following report, available at CCW:

Egerton, J., Morris, L., Goudge, H. and Brazier, P. 2010.  Intertidal Phase 1 mapping from Pen-ychain to Criccieth, Pen Llyn a'r Sarnau SAC CCW Science Report No 953. 30pp, Countryside Council for Wales, Bangor.
